Should Gus Johnson call every important game in every sport?

I'm thinking yes, and -- given his comments on the previous post and our discussion last night on Twitter -- it seems that Tyson Goodridge agrees with me.

At this point, I'm looking for two things:

1. Any persuasive argument that Joe Buck, Jim Nantz, Al Michaels, et al. should be allowed to keep blocking our enjoyment of Gus's calls for big games.

2. Examples of how Gus Johnson would have called great plays that were underserved by other sportscasters. Start with Tyree's Helmet Catch and go from there. May I suggest your extend your consideration to Y. E. Yang's victory over Woods at the PGA this year?

This guy Johnson is a parody of a parody. He shouldn't be allowed to call ANY games. A total goof.

Wow, Anonymous -- you couldn't be more wrong.

(BTW, leaving a drive-by like that as "Anonymous"? THAT'S a goof move.)

I'll have to find some examples of his work, but I can say that I've grown tired of Joe Buck's apparent apathy in calling a game. It's like he's afraid that if he gets into it, fans of the team not benefiting from the moment in question will accuse him of bias.

It's too bad; he has a good voice and his pedigree is well known, but he just chooses to bring teh suck in every big moment. He gets more into the voiceovers for Budweiser and the dancing Fox robot than big moments in games.

Whenever possible, I will find an alternate audio source for games I'm watching when he's in the booth.

(agree with @twalk- do people really leave anonymous comments on blogs anymore- maybe that person still uses the fax machine)

Anyway as the token (and lonely) NY fan, I'll attempt to recreate Manning to Tyree in the Pats/Giants Super Bowl)

".....Manning takes the snap, scrambles..GRABBED by Jarvis Green, he's SACK.....WAIT HE'S STILL ON HIS FEET.! Manning throws up a PRRAAAAYYYYYEEEER to Tyree- Harrison there with him..........ANNNNND.. IT'S CAUGHT, IT'S CAUGHT!!! IT'S CAUGHT!!!!! HOW DID HE POSSIBLY HANG ON TO THAT BALL!!!??

FIRST DOWN GIANTS! AND THE SLIPPER IS SLIDING OFF CINDERELLAS FEET! DO THE PATRIOTS HAVE ENOUGH TO HANG ON?!

PUUHHHLEEEASE TAKE US TO THAT REPLAY AGAIN. I THINK I JUST WITNESSED THE BEST PLAY IN SUPER BOWL HISTORY!!!"
